About the Author

Bobby Gilmer Moss was born, and still lives, about equal distance between the Revolutionary War battle sites of Kings Mountain and Cowpens. For most of his life, he has been gathering information on the individuals who participated in the Southern Campaigns of the American Revolutionary War, specifically from the battle of Moores Creek Bridge to the battle of Yorktown. He holds a B. A. Degree from Wake Forest Univeristy; a B. D. Degree and M. Div. Degree from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky; a M.A  Degree from University of Virginia; and a Ph.D. Degree from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. In 1993, Limestone College conferred on him the honorary degree, Doctor of Humane Letters.

Co-Author

Michael Scoggins,co-author of African-American Loyalists in the Southern Campaign of the American Revolution and its compainion volume, is an historian with the Culture & Heritage Museums in York County, South Carolina. Mr. Scoggins is the author of The Day it Rained Militia: Huck's Defeat and the Revolution in the South Carolina Backcountry, May-July 1780, History Press, 2005. He is also editory of The Quarterly: The Journal of the York County Genealogical and Historical Society.
